Non-Surgical Procedures

Dermal Fillers, BOTOX, Lash Treatment & Other Non-Surgical Procedures

There are many non-surgical options for every area of the face, particularly the eye area, and Dr. Boxrud recommends a consult to discuss which ones (dermal fillers, BOTOX, Xeomin, Dysport) are appropriate for your skin. She’ll work with you to develop the right combination of injectables and non-surgical procedures to give you the best results. Remember that non-surgical procedures not only work to make us look fresh, younger, younger and more rested, but also to treat a wide variety of medical conditions like migraines spasms and acne scarring.

What are my non-surgical facial rejuvenation options?

Dr. Boxrud offers a variety of non-surgical procedures to benefit her patients, including:

  • Restylane®
  • JUVÉDERM® line – including the long-lasting Sculptra and Voluma
  • Dysport®
  • Micropeels (including the Silk Peel)
  • IPL (aka Photofacial)
  • Latisse®

I’ve heard of dermal fillers. Which ones are best?

Dr. Boxrud’s office carries dermal fillers Restylane and JUVÉDERM for non-surgical facial lift and youthful contouring. Dermal fillers help you combat the effects of time and environmental factors with no down time and immediate results. You’ll see fewer wrinkles and greater facial lift within minutes of your injectable treatment!

What if I want to get rid of my frown lines?

Those semi-permanent lines between your eyebrows that make you look angry all the time? Talk to Dr. Boxrud about which proven product she recommends: BOTOX, XEOMIN and Dysport are the top choices to combat and smooth those deep lines and wrinkles. Each is right for a particular facial situation.

How long does an injectable treatment take?

Depending on the number of areas you want treated, expect your facial treatment time to last 15 – 30 minutes. It’s a fast, safe procedure performed during a short office visit with no down time. Sensitive about injections? Not a problem. A mild local anesthetic can be administered at your request to numb the area being treated.

How long will my facial treatments last?

Dermal fillers each have a different “stay” time, depending on the product used, the patient and the area being treated – anywhere from 3 – 18 months. With BOTOX, XEOMIN and Dysport, it may take up one week for you to see full effects and last anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on the treatment area.

What about micropeels or a Silk Peel?

Micropeels and Silk Peels are revitalizing, non-invasive treatments that exfoliate and improve skin texture, and are highly effective in treating acne and pigmentation issues.

  • Micropeels are usually the least intensive of chemical peels and give you smoother, softer skin. A micropeel is an excellent complement to your injectable treatment.
  • A Silk Peel is a dermal infusion treatment that uses wet abrasion to exfoliate and stimulate your skin while at the same time infusing a topical dermaceutical unique to your skin condition.

Are photofacials effective? I’ve heard they work for rosacea and even light sun damage.

Yes, the IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatment is a non-invasive method that uses intense pulsed light to treat rosacea, facial flushing, brown spots, sun damage and hyperpigmentation. IPLs are very safe. The short wave length laser light is used to rejuvenate skin of the face, neck, chest, arms or hands. Specific settings are selected for each treatment area for optimal results. Within a short time after treatment, you’ll see marked improvement. There are treatments available using hyfrecation, as well, where we can take heat directly to small blood vessels like a spot treatment for rosacea.

As I’ve aged, I notice that my lashes are thinner. Are there any topical eyelash treatments that will make my lashes thicker?

Yes! Latisse is a topical eyelash treatment that you apply at home. You lightly brush the topical solution just along the upper eyelash line each evening, leaving it on overnight. After about 2 months of regular use, you’ll notice significantly fuller, longer, darker lashes!

With so many choices, how do I decide which non-surgical procedure(s) are for me?

Your first meeting with Dr. Boxrud is a consultation to evaluate your face and discuss which procedures and products are most suitable for your path to non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Together you will decide which areas will benefit you most, consider ideal timing and the best facial products for the new you!
